Have a good public transport year 2018!

Cityregions implemented major organisational changes starting from 1.7.2014 when City of Oulu and medium sized cities changed the provision of services. They had started planning public transport services for even larger commuting areas and transport services were procured according to the plans of the authorities as a result of decisions based on EU Public Service Obligations regulation and Finnish Public Transport Law. Tampere and Turku, which had been procuring transport services some twenty years, also took responsibilities of planning services for larger commuting areas than their own cities.

The authorities have been able to create services, tickets and prices that have attracted more ridership with a record high increase figures. Travel data, travel surveys and customer feedback are the basis of further improving the services.
